Designing for Growth: A Platform That Generates $1M+ in Recurring Revenue

Tekion • SAAS Platform • 2 Years

I designed a self-serve platform that lets developers integrate with Tekion’s APIs, webhooks, and data feeds without internal support. By simplifying onboarding and automating key workflows, the platform removed bottlenecks, reduced operational load, and unlocked ~$1M in annual recurring revenue. This project turned a high-friction process into a scalable ecosystem, enabling faster adoption and making Tekion’s platform extensibility a product in itself.

Designing Rest in Chaos: A Sleep POD for the Sleepless in Cities

IIT Bombay • Certificate Course • 15 Days

As part of an intensive HCI course at IDC, IIT Bombay, I conducted contextual research to understand what disrupts sleep in metro cities—ranging from noise to light to stress triggers. These insights informed the design of a concept Sleep POD aimed at improving sleep quality in urban environments. The result was a human-centered, sensory-aware prototype designed to restore rest in overstimulated city life.

From Launch to 1M+ Downloads: Designing a High-Retention SME App for Brands, Wholesalers, and Retailers.

SignCatch • Mobile App • 2 Years

I led the end-to-end design of a mobile app tailored for Indian SMEs, focusing on ease of onboarding, task simplification, and retention. The app scaled to over 1 million downloads, maintained a 10% daily active user rate, and sustained a ~4.0 Play Store rating. The design balanced usability with local context, turning a complex business tool into an accessible solution for small business owners.

About Me —

My introduction to design didn't begin with pixels—it began with pillars. As a teenager, I watched my brother design an international convention center, and something clicked (or maybe short-circuited). The sheer thoughtfulness behind every decision—the scale, the process, the idea that spaces can shape how people feel—left me both inspired and slightly overwhelmed. Design wasn't just about things looking good. It was about making things work—for people, for moments, for the future.

Around the same time, I discovered another kind of design—on a computer screen. I started playing with HTML and CSS on my brother's PC. This was 2007, when web design was 90% tables and 10% prayer. I had no clue what I was doing, but I was hooked. The internet became my sandbox—and my silent mentor.

I went on to study Computer Science at Guru Nanak Dev University and graduated in 2013. Tried (and failed) to get into NID and IDC—twice, for good measure. But failure has a strange way of pointing you to Plan B, which in my case, turned out to be the better plan. I kept learning, designing, breaking things, fixing them, reading blogs, and staying up way too late experimenting. No curriculum, no grades—just curiosity, caffeine, and CSS.

Today, I'm a self-taught Product Designer with a strong focus on user research, product strategy, and visual design. I see design as a multidisciplinary craft where empathy meets logic, and creativity shakes hands with constraint. It's less about pushing pixels, more about solving problems and asking the right questions (and occasionally, the wrong ones too—just to be sure).

Outside of work, I read a lot (and finish some), meditate inconsistently, admire good typography like it's fine art, and chase thoughts around the internet like a digital squirrel. I'm deeply curious about art, spirituality, stoicism, karma yoga, and what Iceland looks like in winter. My playlists swing between Sigur Rós, Ólafur Arnalds, and Krishna Das—basically, if it makes you cry in a snowstorm, I'm in.

Still learning. Still tinkering. Still asking why not.

Kind Words —

Swetabh Pathak

Co-Founder • Elucidata

Niranjan played a key role in several high-impact projects. He led the design for Polly 2.0, our first SaaS offering for metabolomic biomarker identification, and shaped the Elucidata identity and branding. He also built Codon, our first design system, which became the foundation for our product design. These contributions were pivotal in our early success. Beyond his regular work, Niranjan mentored design interns and junior designers.
He introduced agile design processes that improved stakeholder alignment and helped the company deliver value faster. What stood out about Niranjan was his ability to always receive feedback constructively, take initiative, and take up a variety of challenges. He was easy to work with, whether during office hours or beyond, and made a big impact in the short time he was with us. I would always love to work with him again!

Mrigank Devam

Founding CEO • ViralOps

Niranjan is one the few designers who start with the problem statement. A thorough professional and an observant problem solver, Niranjan has impressed me on multiple occasions through his design thinking and delivering effective results that had design at the core. I wish him all the best for his endeavours.
